Early Head Start Teacher – OVEC Classroom

Active Imaginations Child Development Center is seeking a dependable, nurturing and professional teacher for one of our OVEC Early Head Start classrooms. The teacher will provide high-quality care and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for infants, toddlers or two-year-old children.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming classroom
• Actively supervise children at all times
• Follow all OVEC, Early Head Start and Kentucky childcare regulations
• Maintain required staff-to-child ratios
• Complete name-to-face recognition during every transition
• Prepare and carry out age-appropriate lesson plans and classroom activities
• Support children’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development
• Complete required observations, screenings and documentation
• Maintain accurate attendance, meal and classroom records
• Follow individualized plans for children when applicable
• Communicate professionally with parents, coworkers and management
• Assist children with feeding, diapering, toileting, handwashing and other daily care needs
• Participate in staff meetings, required training and professional development
• Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families and staff
• Follow all center policies, procedures and sanitation requirements
• Work cooperatively with OVEC staff, center management and classroom team members

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• CDA, associate degree or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education preferred
• Previous experience working with infants, toddlers or preschool-aged children preferred
• Must meet all OVEC, Early Head Start and Kentucky childcare employment requirements
• Must complete required background checks
• Current TB documentation required
• Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification required or willingness to obtain
• Must complete all required orientation and annual training hours
• Must be dependable, patient and able to work effectively as part of a team
• Must be able to lift children, sit on the floor and remain active throughout the workday

Position Requirements

The selected candidate must maintain dependable attendance, arrive on time and follow a professional dress code. Personal cellphone use is not permitted in the classroom. Teachers are expected to remain attentive, engaged and actively involved with the children throughout the day.

Schedule

Full-time position, Monday through Friday. Specific hours will be discussed during the interview.
