Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious CDL Class A Driver to join our agricultural delivery team. In this role, you will be responsible for the bulk delivery of animal feed and livestock nutrition products to farms throughout our service area. You will primarily operate auger trailers, ensuring timely, accurate, and safe delivery of feed products directly into customer bins and storage facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Class A commercial vehicles — primarily auger trailers — for the bulk delivery of animal feed to livestock operations including cattle, hog, poultry, and dairy farms.
- Safely engage and operate auger unloading equipment to transfer bulk feed into customer bins, silos, and storage units.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT regulations and company policy.
- Accurately verify load weights, delivery quantities, and product types against delivery orders; obtain customer signatures and maintain delivery documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and the operations team regarding delivery status, route changes, and any equipment or road issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized truck cab and trailer; perform basic maintenance checks (fluid levels, tire pressure, lights).
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations including hours-of-service (HOS) rules.
- Report mechanical issues, accidents, or near-miss incidents promptly to supervisors.
- Assist with loading operations at the feed mill or distribution facility as needed.
- Maintain a professional, courteous relationship with farm customers and represent the company with integrity.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) — Class A, with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 1–2 years of verifiable CDL Class A driving experience; bulk or agricultural delivery experience strongly preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of and compliance with DOT hours-of-service regulations and driver log requirements.
- Ability to operate and maintain auger trailer equipment; experience with pneumatic or auger bulk delivery systems is highly desirable.
- Physical ability to climb, lift, and perform manual tasks associated with bulk feed delivery operations (regularly lift up to 50 lbs).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform basic equipment troubleshooting.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple delivery stops efficiently.
- Ability to work independently in a rural/agricultural setting, often early mornings or extended hours during peak seasons.
- Valid medical examiner's certificate (DOT physical) — current and in good standing.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering to livestock operations (cattle, swine, poultry, dairy).
- Familiarity with feed mill operations and bulk commodity handling.
- Knowledge of agricultural geography and rural road conditions in the region.
Working Conditions
This position operates in outdoor agricultural environments year-round. Drivers must be comfortable working in all weather conditions, on unpaved farm roads, and around livestock and farm animals. Early morning start times and occasional weekend work may be required.
