About Us

God Restoring Order (GRO) Community is a mental healthcare provider that specializes in trauma recovery services for males of color ages 5 and up. GRO services are grounded in an understanding of the neurological, biological and psychological effects of trauma. GRO services include mental health and wellness, stress management, and community outreach.

Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for providing comprehensive medical and behavioral health services to clients served within the GRO umbrella. The NP will conduct assessments, diagnose and treat medical and mental health conditions, prescribe medications, monitor treatment outcomes, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support the organization's commitment to delivering high-quality, client-centered care.

This position serves children, adolescents, adults, and families across community-based, outpatient, and integrated healthcare settings. The NP will work closely with therapists, case managers, intake, QMHPs, MHPs, and other clinical professionals to ensure continuity of care and positive client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Services

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic behavioral health conditions.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Prescribe, adjust, and monitor medications in accordance with state regulations and evidence-based practices.
  • Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory work, and other medical evaluations.
  • Provide medication management and ongoing monitoring of treatment effectiveness.
  • Conduct routine follow-up appointments and reassessments.
  • Provide health education and counseling regarding treatment plans, medications, wellness, and disease prevention.
  • Address co-occurring behavioral health needs through integrated care practices.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and clinical records within required timeframes.

Behavioral Health Services

  • Evaluate and manage psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, ADHD, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, and other mental health diagnoses.
  • Monitor client response to psychotropic medications and make treatment adjustments as clinically indicated.
  • Coordinate care with therapists, psychiatrists, primary care providers, hospitals, and community partners.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and case consultations.
  • Support crisis intervention efforts and provide clinical recommendations regarding client safety and stabilization.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all documentation meets organizational, state, federal, Medicaid, insurance, and accreditation standards.
  • Complete assessments, treatment plans, medication reviews, and progress notes within established timelines.
  • Participate in audits, quality assurance reviews, and compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Collaborate with clinical leadership regarding client care and program development.
  • Provide consultation and education to clinical staff regarding medical and psychiatric concerns.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary staffing meetings and case reviews.
  • Support organizational initiatives focused on quality improvement and client outcomes.
  • Assist with policy development and implementation as requested.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the applicable state(s) of practice- both Illinois and Ohio.
  • Current DEA registration and controlled substance prescribing authority.
  • Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), or related specialty.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience.
  • Experience working with behavioral health, community mental health, substance use treatment, or integrated healthcare populations preferred.
  • Knowledge of IL/OH Medicaid, managed care, and behavioral health regulations.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) certification.
  • Experience providing services to underserved and community-based populations.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles.
