Field Service Engineer - Steel Manufacturer (35809)

An international Steel manufacturing company in near Crown Point, IN area is looking for a Field Service Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a maintenance background with Steel / Iron manufacturing is a big plus. This position is direct hire and full-time with an excellent benefits package.

This is a field service position that requires up to 70%-80% business travel within the assigned territory. Travel expenses are covered by the company. Able to travel up to 80% for projects. While some overnight travel is required.

Field Service Engineer Responsibilities Include:

• Travel to customer locations to identity any technical problems and perform on-site repair
• Offer installation support for fabrication, automation, and milling equipment
• Read mechanical drawings and blueprints to resolve issues and complete repairs
• Install, repair, and test the equipment and related software and network systems
• Train and educate the customers on equipment operation and maintenance
• Provide technical support to the customers via phone, email, and in person
• Maintain knowledge of equipment updates and changes in industry standards, processes, and procedures
• Document and report any issues
• Other duties as assigned

Field Service Engineer Requirements Include:

• Associate’s degree in an engineering field preferred
• 2 years maintenance or related experience required with injection molding / plastic injection machinery
• Able to use dial indicators, micrometers, voltmeters, and calipers or other kinds of measurement equipment
• Must have a mechanical and / or electrical background
• This position is in a manufacturing work environment. While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, lift in excess of 50 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
