Overview:Join Our Team as a Program Leader in Long Beach!We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who are passionate about making a positive impact with youth. If you have a strong desire to help youth reach their full potential and make a difference in their lives, we want to hear from you.Our sites are located within the city of Long Beach, partnered with Long Beach Unified School District. Program Leaders may work at any AYA program site and receive their assignments based on their availability and AYA program needs.General Role:Under the direction of the Site Coordinator, Program Leaders work directly with students at a school site.Act as a positive adult role model, coach, and mentor to the students.Maintain consistent supervision and active involvement with students at all times.Ensure the safety of the students while following a prescribed program plan.Program Leaders are responsible to create and facilitate academic and recreational enrichment for up to 20 studentsDevelop engaging and creative lesson plans.Establish clear, consistent expectations for behavior and positive discipline.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Minimum six months experience working with a group of 10 or more students in a classroom setting, after-school or recreational environment.High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.Commit to a full school year.Must have full availability during program hoursMust be vocal and able to interact with children of all ages and backgrounds.Excellent interpersonal skillsMust pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting).Must pass TB test and Tdap testMust have reliable transportation.Hours and Scheduling: Monday to Friday, schedule varies between 1:45pm to 6:05pm.Action Youth America (AYA) is committed to creating and maintaining an orderly, fun, and safe environment where teaching and learning are exciting and students are assisted as they develop responsibility and widen their perspectives.
