About the Role
Action Target is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our accounting operations across a variety of transactional and reconciliation-focused tasks. This is a foundational accounting role well-suited for someone who takes pride in accuracy, follows processes consistently, and is eager to grow within a dynamic manufacturing and services company.
You will work directly with the Assistant Controller to ensure that monthly and annual closing procedures are completed in a timely and accurate manner, while also owning several key recurring accounting functions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Work directly with the Assistant Controller to execute month-end and year-end close procedures accurately and on schedule
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany accounts across multiple entities
- File sales and use tax returns across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and on-time compliance
- Support inventory part costing, including maintaining cost records and assisting with cost updates
- Assist with payroll processing and related recordkeeping
- Oversee the accounting for the Metals Recycling Program, including tracking balances, processing transactions, and maintaining accurate records
- Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules
- Post transactional journal entries and support general ledger maintenance
- Assist with audit requests and provide documentation as needed
- Perform other accounting duties as assigned
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in your work
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas)
- Experience with or the ability to quickly learn ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple recurring deadlines
- Clear, professional communication — written and verbal
Experience
- 0–2 years of professional accounting experience (internship experience counts)
- Experience with account reconciliations or transactional accounting is a plus
- Exposure to payroll, sales tax, or fixed assets is helpful but not required — we’re willing to train the right candidate
