Security Guard - On-call

Job Summary:

The Security Officer is responsible for monitoring the safety and security of the facility and property as well as employees and visitors. This position may be responsible for securing gate access; controlling access to the building; making rounds; directing visitors; providing assistance to the public; and responding to alarms. The Security Officer is responsible for responding to incidents and writing corresponding incident reports.

Pay Rate: $20.77 per hour

Shift: This is an on-call position. May be asked to work day or evening shift including weekends. Number of hours per week not guaranteed

Essential Job Functions:

• Security guard tours
• Controlling and monitoring access control systems
• Generating incident reports and journal entries
• Directing contractors and visitors
• Interacting with members of the public
• Monitoring CCTV
• Monitoring, answering, and generating emails in a timely manner
• Software monitoring
• Respond to emergencies as needed
Other duties as assigned

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Must have 1 year of security experience within the past 5 years.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen upon hire and obtain the necessary clearances
• Must be 21 years of age
• Ability to effectively read English and communicate verbally or in written form
• Good in emergencies

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Prior Military or National Guard experience
• Associate's degree or 60 semester hours of college level course work
• Completion of a Police Officer's Training Course.

Physical Requirements:

The successful candidate must be able to perform normal to emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion such as standing or walking for an entire shift, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hand or fingers to reach and feel. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Equipment Used:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
