POSITION OVERVIEW 


The Director of Safety is responsible for leading safety performance across all operations, including maintenance, repair, modernization, testing, and construction. 


This role will build and lead Action Elevator’s safety program, establishing standards, training, compliance processes, track safety statistics and accountability across all branches. 


The Director of Safety partners closely with field leadership and operations teams to ensure work is executed safely, consistently, and in alignment with company standards. 


This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic direction and strong field engagement. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 


Safety Leadership & Culture 


  • Lead and promote a company-wide culture of safety accountability 
  • Partner with Superintendents and field teams to reinforce safe execution at the jobsite level 
  • Provide coaching to leaders and teams on safety expectations and risk management 
  • Lead safety initiatives, committees, and recognition programs 

Compliance & Standards 

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ASME A17.1, and all applicable local codes 
  • Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures 
  • Ensure consistent application of safety standards across all projects 

Field Safety Execution 


  • Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits 
  • Support planning and execution of work with a focus on risk mitigation 
  • Partner with field teams on high-risk activities and job hazard analyses 

Incident Management & Reporting 


  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis 
  • Implement corrective and preventive action plans 
  • Track and communicate safety trends and lessons learned 
  • Track and report on safety statistics 

Training & Development 


  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for field and office teams 
  • Ensure compliance with required certifications and training standards 
  • Support onboarding safety programs for new hires and acquisitions 
  • Educate field supervisors and the leadership team on how to conduct safety audits 
  • Educate sales personnel on how to safely conduct job-site surveys 

 

Scalability & Growth 

  • Support integration of acquired branches into standardized safety practices 
  • Build systems capable of supporting ongoing organizational growth 
  • Recommend future safety staffing and structure as the company expands 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 


  • 10 years of safety leadership experience in construction or related field 
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards 
  • Experience working in field-based operations and construction environments 
  • Proven ability to influence leaders and drive safety culture 
  • Strong communication and leadership skills 
  • Ability to travel regularly across branch locations
