What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at Action Based Enterprises?
Job Objectives: Provide direct support for adults with developmental disabilities. Promote community involvement and integrated paid employment for program participants. Facilitate educational, social, recreational, and vocational activities according to participants’ preferences.
General Qualifications:
· 21 years of age
· High school diploma or GED
· Social Security Card
· Valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record
· Proof of vehicle registration, insurance, and inspection
· Must have reliable transportation to and from job site
Pay: Starts at $20/hr
Schedule: Full-time or Part-time (M-F)
Responsibilities:
1. Treat participants with dignity and respect, as outlined in Participant Rights document
2. Serve as a good role model to participants
3. Represent the agency with professionalism and good conduct
4. Support participants in their right to obtain integrated community employment
5. Provide personal care for participants as needed
6. Promote independence among participants with regards to ADLs
7. Implement participant ISP goals, and document progress toward these goals
8. Develop and maintain positive relationships with participants and their families
9. Report any suspected act of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment to Supervisor or Director
10. Report all serious incidents and/or safety concerns to the Case Manager or Director
11. Provide adequate supervision for participants, consistent with their ISP safety goals
12. Attend all meetings and trainings required by ABE and BHDDH (including SE training)
13. Protect the safety of participants using only approved interventions and emergency procedures
14. Possess basic computer skills, and complete required trainings for Therap (secure data entry)
15. Enter T-Logs (service summaries) in a timely and accurate manner
16. Provide safe transportation for participants in personal vehicle or agency vehicle (personal vehicles are a requirement of the job unless public transit can be used to meet participants’ service needs)
17. Maintain participant confidentiality as required by BHDDH
18. Comply with external investigations (i.e. BHDDH)
19. Must be willing to change assignment (i.e. shift, location, participant)
20. Other duties as assigned (i.e hygiene/cleaning tasks)
