Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Automotive Service Writer to join our fast-paced automotive team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking vehicle maintenance and repair services. Duties
- Greet customers warmly and listen attentively to understand their vehicle concerns and service needs
- Write detailed service orders, accurately capturing customer descriptions and technician diagnostics
- Explain repair recommendations clearly, emphasizing necessary services such as oil changes, brake repairs, transmissions, alignments, suspension work, tire services, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and auto body repairs
- Upsell additional maintenance or repair services that enhance vehicle performance and safety while respecting customer budgets
- Coordinate with service technicians and parts department to ensure timely completion of repairs and proper parts availability
- Prepare auto estimates using our management software and communicate costs transparently to customers
- Handle cash transactions and process payments efficiently while maintaining accurate records
- Maintain thorough documentation of all customer interactions, repair orders, and service histories
Experience
- Proven experience as an Automotive Service Writer or similar role within an automotive service environment
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, transmissions, oil changes, auto body repair, suspension systems, tire services, diesel engines, shocks & struts, brake systems, air brakes, alignment procedures, and other automotive repairs
- Experience in auto estimating software and automotive service management tools
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
- Background in mechanic work or service technician experience is highly desirable to better understand technical diagnostics and repair processes
- Demonstrated ability in upselling services while maintaining integrity and customer trust
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures and automobile sales processes is a plus
