Job Description
We are seeking a talented Weld Production Engineer to support our manufacturing operations by applying innovative ideas and technology. The role involves utilizing production tools and methodologies to eliminate inefficiencies, working collaboratively to foster effective partnerships, and using a data-driven approach to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost management.
Responsibilities
- Apply the 5-why problem-solving methodology to eliminate and prevent machining and assembly process inefficiencies.
- Develop strong working relationships through a teamwork approach to create effective future partnerships.
- Continuously improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost issues using a methodical and data-driven analytical approach.
- Manage projects by creating schedules, establishing punch lists, and meeting due dates and milestones.
- Search for innovative solutions, test them in a manufacturing setting, and develop business case justifications for purchases if trials are successful.
- Develop equipment procurement scopes of work and ensure specifications are met from planning to production usage.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering or similar technical field
- 3 years of professional experience in an engineering role for automotive manufacturing
- Intermediate or above proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with technical specifications and implementation of equipment design and process specification changes
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including 2nd shift, weekends, and holidays/shutdowns
- Experience in writing detailed scopes of work, creating schedules, managing vendors/contractors, and providing regular status updates
Work Environment
The role is part of the Bodyweld group and involves spending 60% of the time on the manufacturing floor, which is busy and loud, requiring adherence to all safety procedures. The remaining 40% of the time will be spent at a desk in a large open office seating area. The position is primarily 1st shift, with typical working hours from 7 AM to 5 PM, but requires the ability to answer calls outside normal working hours, including potential 10 to 12-hour shifts.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.50 - $45.00/hr.
