What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weld Engineer position at Actalent?
Provide expertise in GMAW, GTAW, and RSW welding processes. Design and build manufacturing welding equipment that aligns with product requirements, interpreting CAD data, blueprints, GD&T, and CMM reports. Ensure compliance with applicable corporate standards and deliver quality outputs through proper data collection and analysis.
Responsibilities- Set and optimize weld parameters, conducting testing to meet or exceed customer requirements.
- Program and support facilities and suppliers during the build process.
- Ensure safety in process design and execution of daily activities.
- Coordinate and analyze process design of experiments (DOE's) for process improvement.
- Lead mid-sized projects, developing project approaches independently.
- Maintain effective communication with vendors, team members, suppliers, and project teams.
- Conduct cost justifications and ensure the cost-efficient design of processes.
- Support manufacturing production by troubleshooting and leading continuous improvement activities.
- Provide on-call support for manufacturing processes to meet customer demands.
- Lead and participate in launch and maturation plans for new business.
- Engage in new business pursuits, providing quotes and participating in feasibility reviews.
- Ensure successful transition of value streams by sharing information developed during quoting processes.
- Proficiency in welding techniques including GMAW, GTAW, and RSW.
- Ability to interpret CAD data, blueprints, GD&T, and CMM reports.
- Strong data collection and analysis skills.
- Project management and leadership skills.
- Effective communication skills within cross-functional teams.
- Experience in working with robotic welding and SME of Weld.
- Participation in PFMEA development meetings.
- Experience in developing maturation plans and timelines in line with risk mitigation strategies.
