Job Description
As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will monitor, inspect, and document daily on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents and codes. You will coordinate with contractors, engineers, consultants, and site supervisors regarding plans, materials, methods, and safety. Your role includes preparing and maintaining daily reports, photos, discrepancies, corrective actions, and inspection records. Additionally, you will review shop drawings, track quantities and costs, verify progress for contractor payment applications, and monitor erosion and stormwater controls. Attendance at required site meetings is also part of this role.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, inspect, and document daily on-site construction activities for compliance.
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, consultants, and site supervisors.
- Prepare and maintain daily reports, photos, discrepancies, corrective actions, and inspection records.
- Review shop drawings, track quantities and costs, and verify progress for contractor payment applications.
- Monitor erosion and stormwater controls.
- Attend required site meetings.
- Experience in inspection and construction inspection.
- Proficiency in construction materials testing, including concrete and asphalt testing.
- Experience with roadway construction.
- Asphalt experience; NICEET certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with ECMS (PennDOT's Construction Management System) documentation.
- Ability to work in a collaborative and team environment.
- Strong desire to build a career in the Transportation Industry by obtaining valuable industry certifications.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Some secondary education, Associate degree, or Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in civil engineering or construction management. Other BS degrees considered.
- Effective communication skills.
This project is located in Erie, PA, involving roadway rehabilitation and overpass work. Work schedules are project-dependent but typically run from 7 AM to 3/4 PM. The company offers medical, dental, and vision plans, along with company-paid short-term and long-term disability. Mileage reimbursement is provided at the government inverse rate (72.5 cents), and company vehicles are negotiable.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $29.65 - $32.38/hr.
