Tooling Designer - 1st Shift

We are seeking a talented Tooling Designer for our 1st shift team. The ideal candidate will receive 3D CAD files of molds from customers and will be responsible for developing systems based on these files. Utilizing existing details, designers will make custom modifications to meet customer needs. Collaboration with engineers and manufacturing personnel is crucial to ensure that deliverables are met and designs are manufacturable.

Responsibilities

• Design tooling in 3D using Solidworks 2014 (90% of the time).
• Print and check prints, and work with the shop floor to ensure manufacturability (10% of the time).
• Occasionally travel to local customers as needed.

• At least 2 years of experience designing in 3D.
• At least 2 years of experience using Solidworks.
• Experience in designing assemblies, part design, mold design, or other tooling components.
• Experience with 2D detailing and building a Bill of Materials (BOM).

• Associates or Bachelor's degree is a plus.
• Injection Molding experience is advantageous.

The work environment consists of a team-oriented setup with 18 people in the group, including 13 designers. Teams are composed of varying levels of experience to provide support and meet project deliverables. Designers are expected to complete projects in approximately 3 days, handling 2-3 projects weekly depending on complexity. Work hours can extend to 10-12 hours a day, with occasional Saturday work during busy times. Flexibility to adjust work hours is offered during peak periods.

This is a Permanent position based out of Troy, MI.

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
