Job Description
This role focuses on building, verifying, and supporting test equipment, harnesses, and test boxes used to test advanced power electronics and Control Actuation Systems. You will work hands-on in an engineering development environment, document test results, and collaborate closely with design engineers to ensure products meet specified requirements and program goals. You will also support both internal and external development and qualification test activities for aerospace and defense applications.
Responsibilities
- Build, assemble, and verify test equipment, harnesses, and test boxes used to test advanced power electronics and Control Actuation Systems.
- Execute test procedures and support both automated and manual testing activities in an engineering laboratory environment.
- Document test results clearly and accurately, ensuring traceability and compliance with program and engineering requirements.
- Collaborate closely with design and development engineers to confirm that hardware designs meet specified requirements and program goals.
- Perform hardware test, troubleshooting, repair, and rework on electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies, including circuit card assemblies.
- Interpret and work from electronic schematics, drawings, and bills of material to build and validate test setups and fixtures.
- Operate laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), power supplies, and data recorders to conduct and validate tests.
- Apply staking and coating materials appropriately to electronic assemblies in accordance with engineering and quality standards.
- Support internal and external development and qualification test campaigns, including occasional work at outside test laboratories.
- Requisition and manage bills of material for test equipment builds and modifications.
- Use tools such as LabVIEW and other development engineering tools as needed to support test automation and data collection.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory work area and adhere to all engineering, quality, and safety procedures.
- At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the aerospace industry.
- Hands-on experience in an electronic laboratory within a design and development engineering environment.
- Minimum of an associate degree in electronics technology, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).
- Thorough understanding of electronic and electro-mechanical principles.
- Strong engineering test equipment skills, including setup, verification, and maintenance of test hardware and fixtures.
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes and digital multimeters (DMMs) for troubleshooting and verification.
- Experience with hardware test and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and systems.
- Excellent soldering skills, including a history of certification to IPC J-STD with Class III experience.
- Proficiency in circuit card assembly, repair, rework, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to operate instruments such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, and data recorders.
- Working knowledge of staking and coating materials and their proper application to electronic assemblies.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and other technical documentation.
- Experience with development engineering environments and test procedures.
- Ability to perform bill of material requisitioning to support test equipment builds.
- Eligibility to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen, due to the nature of the work.
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing and testing environments.
- Familiarity with automated testing methods and tools.
- Experience using LabVIEW for test automation, data acquisition, or control is highly beneficial.
- Background working with power electronics and Control Actuation Systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for both electronic and electro-mechanical systems.
- Attention to detail and strong documentation skills for test results and procedures.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Interest in working on advanced aerospace and defense technologies, including spaceflight-related systems.
This position is based 100% on-site in a new, state-of-the-art engineering center in Parsippany. The work is performed in an electronic laboratory and engineering development environment with modern test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, data recorders, and automated test systems. As of January 2026, the schedule follows a five-day, eight-hour on-site workweek with no remote flexibility. You may occasionally travel to outside test laboratories, with travel expenses reimbursed. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
