The Test Engineer supports new product introduction, continuous improvement initiatives, and provides technical guidance to team members in a manufacturing and laboratory environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform production acceptance testing on electronic assemblies, integrated systems, and finished products to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Conduct initial power-up verification, configuration checks, and electrical performance testing on products entering and in production.
  • Perform Environmental Stress Screening, including thermal cycling and vibration testing, to identify early-life product failures and reliability issues.
  • Troubleshoot electrical failures using schematics, wiring diagrams, datasheets, and test results to identify root causes.
  • Diagnose issues involving printed circuit boards, wire harnesses, connectors, power distribution, and system wiring.
  • Use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, and other electronic test equipment to validate performance and isolate faults.
  • Conduct basic mixed-signal and RF testing as required to support product verification and troubleshooting.
  • Support the validation and release of new products entering production by executing test plans and acceptance criteria.
  • Investigate test failures, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions or design improvements to enhance product quality and reliability.
  • Partner with design engineering, production, assembly, and quality teams to resolve out-of-specification conditions and drive issue resolution.
  • Provide technical feedback on product wiring, board design, manufacturability, quality, and long-term reliability.
  • Develop, document, and maintain test plans, procedures, fixtures, and acceptance criteria to standardize testing processes.
  • Analyze test data, summarize findings, and communicate results through clear technical reports and documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, test efficiency, and long-term reliability performance.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to technicians and less-experienced team members.
  • Document test results, root causes, and recommended corrective actions in a clear and traceable manner.
  • Collaborate constructively with design engineers, production employees, and quality personnel to resolve technical issues and improve processes.
  • Occasionally travel locally, as needed, to support testing activities or coordination with other teams.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or 5 to 7 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting electrical or electronic products in a production, manufacturing, development, or laboratory environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, datasheets, and technical procedures.
  • Strong understanding of Ohm’s law, series and parallel circuits, voltage, current, resistance, Boolean logic, and basic analog electronics.
  • Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes and digital multimeters in a test or troubleshooting environment.
  • Experience performing product verification, acceptance testing, qualification testing, or failure analysis.
  • Proven ability to independently investigate unexpected test results and work through problems without relying solely on established instructions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work constructively with design engineers, production staff, and quality personnel.
  • Ability to clearly document test results, root causes, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must meet the definition of a U.S. person under International Traffic in Arms Regulations requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Environmental Stress Screening, including thermal cycling and vibration testing, to identify early-life product failures.
  • Experience with production acceptance testing and qualification testing of electronic assemblies and systems.
  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and failure analysis, including root-cause investigation and corrective action recommendation.
  • Experience operating electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers.
  • Familiarity with mixed-signal and RF testing in a production or laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of acceptance testing practices and failure analysis methodologies.
  • Understanding of environmental stress testing techniques and their application to product reliability.
  • Exposure to AS9100 or similar quality management standards in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to develop, document, and maintain test plans, procedures, fixtures, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience analyzing test data and preparing technical reports and documentation.
  • Interest in mentoring and providing technical guidance to technicians and junior team members.
  • Motivation to contribute to continuous improvement efforts in product quality, test efficiency, and long-term reliability.
  • Comfort working in production, manufacturing, or lab environments with electronic hardware and test equipment.
