Job Description
The Technical Writer will update and enhance service and operator manuals for a graphical user interface (GUI) screen, ensuring all documentation is clear, accurate, and easy to follow for end users and service personnel.
Responsibilities
- Update existing service manuals for GUI screens to reflect current features, workflows, and technical specifications.
- Revise and improve operator manuals to provide clear, step-by-step guidance for using the GUI effectively and safely.
- Ensure all documentation is consistent in style, terminology, and formatting across service and operator manuals.
- Translate complex technical information into clear, concise language that is accessible to both technical and non-technical users.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to gather information and validate the accuracy of updated content.
- Organize content logically so users can quickly locate procedures, troubleshooting steps, and reference information.
- Proofread and edit documentation to eliminate errors and improve clarity, readability, and usability.
- Maintain version control and documentation standards when updating manuals.
- Proven experience in technical writing, with a focus on user manuals or technical documentation.
- Ability to clearly document service procedures and operator instructions for GUI-based systems.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple, precise language.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, error-free documentation.
- Background or prior role as a technical writer.
- Familiarity with GUI interfaces and related terminology.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to gather and validate technical information.
The Technical Writer works in a professional documentation-focused environment, collaborating with technical and operational stakeholders to update service and operator manuals for GUI screens. The role involves focused writing, editing, and content organization, typically performed in an office or remote setting using standard documentation tools and software.

This is a Contract position based out of Golden Valley, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
