Job Title: Systems Engineer
Position Summary
The ideal candidate will support the development of advanced control systems by gathering customer requirements, contributing to systems architecture, and guiding a cross-functional team through the product development life cycle. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that complex electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems meet performance expectations, quality standards, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in identifying customer needs and translating them into clear, actionable system requirements.
- Support the development of both physical and functional architectures for project delivery.
- Establish, track, and manage team goals based on company initiatives, product strategy, and project timelines.
- Develop, analyze, integrate, verify, and validate highly complex control systems for Vermeer products, including ownership of the high‑level system architecture.
- Lead and mentor cross‑functional teams throughout the complete life cycle of product development—from concept through validation and release.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5 years of experience in systems engineering, including requirement management and system‑level integration.
- Proficiency in project management with experience driving cross‑functional engineering teams.
- Hands-on experience with electronic control systems, mechanical engineering, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience developing electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical control systems in a production environment.
- Strong analytical skills, including experience in root cause analysis tools such as FMEA, 8D, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Exposure to model-based systems design principles and practices.
- Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for modeling and simulation.
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
