This position will lead a survey team in the field, collecting data to support design activities, boundary surveying, and providing sketches and layout to support construction activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise to internal and external clients.
- Perform field work for land surveying scopes of work, including construction staking, boundary location, ALTA, and topography for various project types.
- Organize field staking materials as necessary.
- Operate GPS, total stations, scanners, and data collectors.
- Transfer files between data collectors and internal company project folders.
- Provide communication to the office teams regarding project status, daily progress, and issues.
- Maintain productive working relationships with clients and coworkers.
- Adhere to the company’s Safety, Quality Management, and Equipment Maintenance policies.
- Ensure division, regional, and company policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service.
- Lead by example, displaying solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism.
- Experience in survey, land surveying, ALTA, and topographic surveys.
- Ability to effectively lead a survey crew and train/mentor survey crew members.
- Proficiency in operating total station and GPS in both static and RTK modes for surveying activities.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving history.
- OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to acquire.
- High degree of independence in performing tasks and solving problems.
- Basic 'office suite' computer skills.
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments.
- Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural, or urban surroundings.
- Capability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions subject to weather, insects, and changing environments.
- An Associate’s Degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related area of study.
- Experience in coordinating activities with office personnel, including surveying technicians and engineering staff.
