Job Title: Survey Assistant
Job Description
We are urgently hiring Survey Assistants to support a long-term initiative, launched in 2014, aims to improve electric grid reliability by relocating the most outage-prone overhead distribution lines underground, primarily in Virginia. Candidates will work on one of the largest distribution projects in Virginia, supporting the largest utility in the state to transition power lines from overhead to underground. This role primarily focuses on the Manassas market.
Responsibilities
- Work as a Survey Assistant on a two-person crew, traveling to various sites daily.
- Support this program by assisting in relocating overhead distribution lines underground.
- Operate Trimble equipment and DTS5 data collection equipment for surveying tasks.
- Assist in site visits and construction stakeouts.
Essential Skills
- Experience in labor, utility, and land surveying.
- Proficiency in using total station and GPS equipment.
- Ability to work in construction and field technician roles.
- General knowledge of surveying and AutoCAD.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in survey, mapping, and field work.
- Knowledge of GIS.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work in right of way and construction stakeout.
Work Environment
The work environment involves daily site visits throughout the Manassas, VA service territory. Employees will work in a two-person crew, heading directly to job sites without the need to report to the office first. The typical workday begins at 7 AM, and employees should be comfortable working outdoors in the elements. The role offers a six-year long project with ongoing work, providing opportunities for growth within the company and the industry.

This is a Contract position based out of Manassas, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
