SUE Technician

We are seeking a proficient SUE Technician skilled in operating survey equipment such as total stations, GPS, SUE locating equipment, or hydrographic equipment. This role involves assisting the SUE Analyst in the operation of a SUE field crew and completing a variety of different utilities including gas lines, cable lines, septic tank pipes, underground storage tanks, storm drains, and telecommunication lines. Experience with airports, railroads, construction sites, and industrial sites is advantageous. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, capable of working independently on project sites, and can lead a crew when necessary.

• Operate SUE field equipment including ground-penetrating radar, electromagnetic designating equipment, sewer camera, probe rod, jackhammer, chop saw, pneumatic tampers, and vacuum excavation equipment.
• Interpret blueprints and navigate through various terrains such as urban, suburban, and rural locations, working under adverse conditions including heat, cold, hills, swamps, wildlife, and high traffic areas.
• Work independently on project sites and lead a crew when necessary.
• Complete projects on airports, railroads, construction sites, and industrial sites.
• Travel up to 50% in South Carolina and Georgia, with occasional overnight stays.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a SUE Technician.
• Proficiency with survey equipment such as total stations, GPS, and SUE locating equipment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and operate equipment as needed.
• Experience with utility locating and vacuum excavation.

• Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Experience in handling utilities at various sites.

The work hours are from 7 AM to 5 PM, with the possibility of working 8-10 hour days and occasional overtime. The position is based out of the Charleston, SC office, with an average work week of 50 hours. The candidate will receive a company truck, gas card, and credit card for hotels and other expenses. The role requires a willingness to work in various terrains and conditions.

This is a Permanent position based out of Charleston, SC.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Charleston,SC.
