Substation Designer

As a Substation Designer, you will be part of the substation department, developing construction drawings for substations with guidance from experienced designers and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Create 3-D models of electrical substation features and components, such as transformers and circuit breakers, using MicroStation with support from senior designers.
• Design layouts of parts and assemblies in both 2-D and 3-D drawings.
• Modify and update existing models, assemblies, and layouts to incorporate design changes.
• Work with part naming and numbering conventions, and manage file naming and protocols.
• Create or modify physical drawings, including single line diagrams, station location plans, electrical assemblies, cable and conduit plans, cable schedules, grounding plans, duct bank designs, and other essential details for substation construction.
• Utilize ProjectWise for project documentation to track design modifications and new designs with guidance from senior designers.
• Collaborate closely under the supervision of higher-level designers and engineers.

• Proficiency in substation design and physical layout planning.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and CAD drafting.
• Five to eight years of experience designing physical layouts, equipment layouts, plan views, and detailed bills of material.
• Five to eight years of 3D design experience using MicroStation or AutoCAD.

• Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting and computer-aided design (CAD) or in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology.
• Equivalent experience and/or education in relevant fields.

This position is based in a quiet engineering office environment with a business casual dress code. Teamwork is highly encouraged and frequently practiced, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of New Albany, Ohio.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
