Structural Design Engineer

A Design Engineer role that involves collaborating with senior engineers to develop designs for signage and architectural branding elements. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a fundamental understanding and appreciation of building construction and metal fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Interface with Project Management to define customer requirements.
• Develop fabrication methods based on renderings of the final product.
• Work closely with CADD Designers to fully document designs.
• Resolve fabrication issues on the shop floor.
• Update designs based on shop or engineering feedback.
• Apply consistent logic to standardize sign families.
• Reference past jobs to adapt or reuse design details.
• Support Project Management in resolving technical issues in Production and in the field.

• Experience with technical drawings and AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Strong analytical skills and understanding of materials and manufacturing or construction.
• Effective and practical design skills.
• Understanding of UL48 and applicable Building Codes.
• Experience in structural engineering and design.

• Preferred knowledge of fabrication details, machine, and material limitations.
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural building drawings.
• Project risk recognition and mitigation skills.
• Manufacturing experience.

The position involves working primarily in an office setting, with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor to review products. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and practical application.

This is a Permanent position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
