Job Title: Stress Analysis Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking experienced stress analysis engineers and dynamics engineers to join our team. You will work with FEA modeling and analysis of systems and components for high reliability applications, involving multiple materials including metallic and non-metallics. Your role will involve executing mechanical design, analysis, and evaluation of projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis to inform design, manufacturing, construction, and licensing strategies for advanced mechanical systems.
- Utilize engineering tools, including FEA simulation software, hand calculations, and engineering judgment to assess stress, deformation, and performance of high reliability components.
- Develop mechanical/physical concepts and support the development of processes for high reliability products or facilities.
- Coordinate with key stakeholders to document requirements, interfaces, design basis, and criteria.
- Plan and perform analysis to ensure mechanical systems meet technical specifications and design requirements.
- Perform computations for structural, thermal, hydraulic, and other scoping calculations as required.
- Assess mechanical systems and structures for manufacturability and integration considerations.
- Write and develop design documentation, including technical reports, calculations, and drawings.
- Develop verification and validation plans for analytical tools and support toolset qualification.
- Conduct independent reviews and acceptance reviews of engineering deliverables and data.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with hardware and mechanical systems through the product development lifecycle.
- Experience with highly regulated industries such as aerospace, medical devices, automotive, or defense electronics.
- Proficiency in FEA/Mechanical Analysis software for structural and dynamics analysis.
- Experience with stress or dynamics hand calculations and knowledge of metallic and non-metallic materials.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
- 3-10 years of engineering experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Graduate degrees may count as additional experience.
- Experience with structural analysis software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, NASTRAN, and FEMAP.
- Experience with structural analysis of components in industrial applications, particularly nuclear power plants.
- Application of codes and standards for pressure retaining components, such as the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code.
- Experience working on cross-disciplinary teams for stress/strain/deformation analysis.
Work Environment
The position is based in an office environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockville, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65.00 - $85.00/hr.
