Join a dynamic specimen accessioning team that plays a crucial role in the pre-analytical and post-analytical processes of testing. While not directly involved in testing, you will be responsible for receiving, logging, and preparing incoming samples for the lab. This role also includes managing sample storage and disposal. Responsibilities

• Meet couriers to receive samples from across the USA and internationally, initiating the tracking process.
• Verify the arrival of all samples, inspect for damage, and manage packaging disposal.
• Utilize multiple computer software systems, remembering specific applications for different samples.
• Ensure sample names match requisitions.
• Handle various types of samples, primarily urine, but also blood, serum, plasma, and body fluids.
• Create and apply labels to samples after data entry into systems.
• Occasionally aliquot samples, centrifuge, or freeze them for stabilization as needed.
• Contribute to processing 5,000-11,000 samples daily.
• Manage workflow for sample maintenance in walk-in refrigerators and freezers after 3, 6, and 12 months.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma, with a preference for some science coursework.
• Desire to advance within the lab.
• Intermediate computer, typing, and 10-key skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Capacity to work in a fast-paced production environment to meet turnaround times.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in lab environments, banking, serving, customer service, or similar fields.
• Experience in sample preparation, quality control, and material handling.
• Interest in psychology, science, or forensic studies.

Work Environment

Work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment as a specimen accessioner, a vital part of medical laboratory science. The role includes on-the-job training, providing the medical community with accurate test results. With 5,000-11,000 samples processed daily, you'll be part of an industry leader in the medical laboratory sector. The position offers career growth opportunities, including tuition reimbursement for qualifying degrees in partnership with Arizona State University. The role is on the 1st shift, Tuesday through Saturday, with potential for full-time employment after a successful contract period.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

The pay range for this position is $19.53 - $19.53/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Saint Paul,MN.
