Job Title: Specimen Accessioner

Responsibilities

• Introduce and prepare biological specimens for laboratory processing to ensure accurate analysis and testing.
• Open specimen containers and pour samples into appropriate secondary containers in preparation for testing.
• Verify that patient demographic information matches the test requisition forms submitted with each specimen.
• Accurately enter patient and specimen information into the computer system for tracking and documentation.
• Meet key production metrics and quality measures to support timely and accurate test results.
• Unpack incoming specimens and route them to the correct staging and processing areas.
• Pack and ship specimens to designated testing facilities when required.
• Properly prepare, label, and store excess specimen samples according to laboratory protocols.
• Identify, resolve, and document issues with problem specimens, following established procedures.
• Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Comply with all applicable environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
• Operate automated laboratory instrumentation under supervision when necessary.
• Work both independently and collaboratively with team members to maintain efficient laboratory operations.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of work experience; no prior experience required, but 1–2 years is preferred.
• Comfort working with human biological specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
• Strong data entry experience with accurate and efficient typing skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Work Environment

Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

This is a Contract position based out of Gibsonville, NC.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Gibsonville,NC.
