Job Description

We are seeking a Software Engineer responsible for the review, integration, and analysis of supplier DO-178C software lifecycle artifacts. This position ensures compliance with program and airworthiness objectives, authoring, reviewing, and approving airworthiness documentation and associated certification evidence. The role requires alignment between supplier-developed software deliverables and airworthiness and safety certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review, integrate, and analyze supplier DO-178C software lifecycle artifacts.
• Ensure compliance with program and airworthiness objectives.
• Author, review, and approve airworthiness documentation and associated certification evidence.
• Support airworthiness certification activities, including audits, reviews, and coordination with regulatory and customer authorities.
• Analyze and assess safety-critical software systems, identifying gaps, risks, and compliance issues.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to ensure cohesive certification strategy and execution.
• Interface with suppliers to clarify expectations, resolve technical issues, and ensure high-quality certification artifacts.
• Provide technical guidance on DO-178C objectives, software assurance, and verification strategies.
• Support program milestones and reviews related to software airworthiness, safety, and certification readiness.

Essential Skills

• Airworthiness certification experience in aerospace or defense programs.
• Hands-on experience with DO-178C and/or MIL-HDBK-516-C processes.
• Strong understanding of DO-178C software development and certification for airborne systems.
• Experience in software engineering, software verification, or software assurance.
• Experience working with safety-critical systems and formal compliance frameworks.
• Ability to interpret, assess, and integrate complex supplier certification data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for technical documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Advanced technical education in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor's degree) with typically 9 or more years of related work experience.
• Equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD 4 years' related work experience, Master 7 years' related work experience).
• ABET accreditation is preferred but not required.
• Experience in software development, including requirements, design, coding, or verification.
• Knowledge of software architecture for complex, safety-critical systems.
• Familiarity with EN-EZ office tools and processes.
• Experience working directly with suppliers and external certification authorities.
• Prior experience in military or commercial aviation certification programs.

Work Environment

The position follows a Monday to Friday 9x80 schedule in a contract role with a large aerospace defense employer in the OKC area. The work environment involves collaborating with internal engineering teams and interfacing with suppliers and external certification authorities.

This is a Permanent position based out of Oklahoma City, OK.

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $110.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Oklahoma City,OK.
