Site Superintendent - Commercial Construction

The Site Superintendent oversees all phases of commercial construction projects from inception through completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. This role leads field operations, coordinates teams and subcontractors, and serves as a key communication link between the office, design professionals, and on-site personnel. The Site Superintendent actively manages schedules, budgets, and project documentation while maintaining strong relationships with vendors and trade partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all on-site aspects of commercial construction projects from start to finish, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency at every stage.
• Plan, organize, and direct daily field activities to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinate and oversee production teams, ensuring they are fully trained, oriented on project goals, and working in alignment with project plans and specifications.
• Develop, maintain, and manage detailed critical path method (CPM) schedules that align with project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Monitor project progress and adjust work plans and schedules as needed to address delays, changes, or unforeseen conditions.
• Negotiate and collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and the best overall value for each project.
• Supervise subcontractor performance in the field to ensure adherence to safety requirements, quality standards, and contract scope.
• Serve as the primary communication hub between the office, design team, and field operations, ensuring clear, accurate, and timely information flow.
• Communicate regularly with the Senior Project Manager, providing accurate updates on schedules, budgets, progress, and any issues that may affect project outcomes.
• Maintain and update project documentation, including RFIs, Change Orders, schedules, daily logs, cost controls, scopes, and contracts.
• Ensure that all work complies with project specifications, building codes, and company standards.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on-site, ensuring that all team members follow safety procedures and best practices.
• Identify and resolve field issues proactively, coordinating with design and office teams to implement effective solutions.
• Support the preparation and execution of inspections, punch lists, and project closeout activities.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a superintendent in commercial construction.
• Overall experience of 7–10 years in commercial construction, including projects in the Philadelphia metro area (DE, NJ, PA).
• Proven ability to lead and manage all aspects of commercial construction projects from start to finish.
• Strong background in commercial construction environments, working with general contractors and managing subcontractors.
• Demonstrated experience with medical, multifamily residential, and/or hospitality construction projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, MS Project, and Outlook for scheduling, reporting, and communication.
• Ability to develop and manage detailed critical path schedules and track project milestones.
• Proficiency in managing project documentation, including RFIs, Change Orders, schedules, daily logs, cost controls, scopes, and contracts.
• Strong subcontractor management skills, including coordination, oversight, and performance monitoring.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating between office staff, design teams, and field operations.
• Ability to maintain project quality, safety, and efficiency while meeting schedule and budget requirements.

• Familiarity with Procore construction management software is a plus.
• OSHA certification is preferred.
• Experience working with general contractors and a variety of trade partners in commercial construction.
• Exposure to diverse project types, including medical facilities, multifamily residential buildings, and hospitality projects.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
• Ability to negotiate effectively with subcontractors and suppliers to achieve best value for the project.
• Capability to adapt to changing project conditions and resolve field issues efficiently.

This role operates primarily on active commercial construction sites, overseeing field operations and coordinating with office and design teams. The Site Superintendent works closely with production crews, subcontractors, and vendors in a fast-paced environment that requires frequent schedule monitoring and problem solving. The position uses tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, MS Project, Outlook, and, when applicable, Procore or similar construction management platforms to manage schedules, documentation, and communication. Work hours typically align with standard construction site hours and may require flexibility to meet project deadlines, support critical path activities, and handle time-sensitive issues. The work environment emphasizes safety, quality, and collaboration across all project stakeholders.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of King of Prussia, PA.

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $105.00/hr.
