Job Title: Site Project Director

Job Description

The Site Project Director provides executive leadership for major EPC capital projects in the power and energy sector, ensuring that strategic, contractual, and financial objectives are consistently achieved. This role oversees the full lifecycle of large-scale energy infrastructure projects, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and commercial performance, with a focus on boiler, steam generation, and modular power generation systems that support AI data centers and large industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle execution of large-scale EPC energy infrastructure projects, typically valued at $500M or more, from initial planning through commissioning and commercial closeout.
  • Provide cross-functional oversight for engineering, construction, supply chain, quality, and project controls to ensure integrated, on-time, and on-budget delivery.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive execution strategies, including schedule, cost, risk, and commercial frameworks, and ensure strict adherence across all project phases.
  • Provide executive technical governance for boiler systems, steam generation, and energy process systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for customers, joint venture partners, and internal leadership, managing complex stakeholder relationships and resolving issues promptly.
  • Oversee commercial and contract management activities, including risk mitigation, change management, claims, and dispute resolution, to protect project and business interests.
  • Drive safety and quality leadership across the site, implementing project assurance programs, audits, and compliance initiatives to maintain high performance standards.
  • Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, RFP responses, and strategic positioning for future projects and modular power generation programs.
  • Build, develop, and lead a large site-based team, potentially numbering in the thousands, fostering a high-performance culture and strong leadership capability at all levels.
  • Provide ongoing executive direction and decision-making for site operations once the facility is built, ensuring reliable, utility-grade electricity supply to end customers.

Essential Skills

  • 5 years of extensive experience leading large-scale EPC capital projects with individual project values of $500M or more.
  • Strong understanding of power generation systems, particularly boilers, steam generation, and associated energy process technologies.
  • Proven track record of building, managing, and leading large, multidisciplinary teams, including site teams numbering in the thousands.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and commercial performance within complex energy projects.
  • Expertise in developing and managing project execution strategies, including schedule, cost control, risk management, and commercial frameworks.
  • Experience with commercial and contract management, including risk mitigation, change management, and dispute resolution.
  • Ability to act as a senior interface with customers, joint venture partners, and internal leadership, handling escalations and complex stakeholder issues.
  • Strong leadership development skills, with the ability to mentor and grow leaders within a large organization.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed, including regular travel to headquarters during the initial project phase.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in power generation projects involving boiler and steam systems.
  • Experience with modular power generation programs or fast-deployment energy solutions.
  • Exposure to projects serving AI data centers and large industrial facilities.
  • Experience implementing and overseeing safety and quality assurance programs on major construction or energy sites.
  • Ability to contribute to business development activities, including proposals and RFPs for future EPC and power generation projects.

Work Environment

The role initially requires travel to Ohio approximately once per month for meetings at headquarters during the first year while the site is being built and the leadership team is being selected. During this phase, the Site Project Director collaborates closely with corporate stakeholders and project teams to shape execution strategy and organizational structure. Once the site is constructed and operational, the position transitions to a primarily site-based role with daily on-site leadership responsibilities. The environment centers around large-scale power generation infrastructure, including boiler and steam systems, and modular power generation solutions that deliver reliable, utility-grade electricity to AI data centers and major industrial facilities. The work setting is dynamic and fast-paced, with significant interaction across engineering, construction, supply chain, quality, and project controls functions, and requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational excellence.
