Design Engineer

Job Description

The Design Engineer is responsible for supporting the business development team by creating equipment concepts, estimating costs, and preparing detailed quotes for customer requests.

Responsibilities

• Prepare proposals by developing engineering concepts, accurate cost estimates, and clear written quotes for assigned projects.
• Collaborate with teams and customers to ensure specifications are understood and proposals meet customer needs.
• Support kick-off meetings by providing detailed project scope information to internal teams and customers.
• Manage inquiries and records by responding promptly to proposal requests and maintaining organized documentation.
• Contribute to business development by assisting with trade shows, sharing ideas for process improvements, and staying informed on new technologies.
• Visit customers, perform initial development of projects, track quotation cost performance, and maintain positive customer relationships.

Essential Skills

• 5 years of experience in applications or mechanical engineering.
• Design proficiency within Solidworks 2D/3D CAD.
• Experience with design development of industrial automation and robotic equipment.
• Ability to create practical, cost-effective equipment ideas and accurate project estimates using customer specs and knowledge of their products and processes.
• Skilled in recognizing and managing risks while clearly explaining equipment benefits to customers.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in medical device or MedTech industries.
• Automation design work supporting surgical, vascular, bio-mems, drug delivering, ophthalmic OR diagnostics devices.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite at the Miamisburg, OH facility, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM (flexible). The position requires 10% travel. The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
