Job Description

Responsibilities

• Design commercial, retail, hospitality, multi-family, healthcare, educational, and municipal facilities.
• Understand project scopes and create detailed design documentation in accordance with standards and AHJ code requirements to secure building permits.
• Provide detailed mechanical and plumbing systems design, including piping flow diagrams and P&ID diagrams.
• Perform building load and ventilation calculations using Trane Trace or Carrier Haps, and provide HVAC design per ASHRAE, IBC, IMC, and IECC guidelines.
• Conduct on-site field inspections of piping and mechanical systems, including generating written reports.
• Coordinate project requirements with Project Manager and Team Leadership.
• Communicate project status, issues, and concerns with Team Leadership.
• Collaborate with in-house and out-of-house design team members to ensure quality and coordinated design.
• Attend offsite meetings as required.
• Conduct pre-design site visits and as-building.
• Adhere to company standards and QC/QA practices.

Essential Skills

• 5 years of experience in mechanical design within the consulting engineering industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace (or Carrier Hap) load calculation software, ComCheck, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Bluebeam.
• Strong understanding of the construction process.
• Familiarity with International Building Codes.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of water-source heat pump systems, DX package, split systems, and VRF equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in plumbing design.
• Chilled water experience is a plus but not required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
