Description:
Our client is currently seeking 2 Structural Engineers to support the US Army Corps of Engineers on the Tyndall Airforce Base Rebuild program. These individuals would sit full time at Tyndall AFB near Panama City, FL.
This contract is a 1-year base, with 2 option years (total of 3 years).
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Review contractor’s quality management and control procedures on large military installations and report findings to the COR.
- Review submittals and provide recommendations to the COR concerning acceptability. Review and provide written comments to the COR on selected contractor submittals pursuant to special clauses of the contract.
- Review contract and construction deficiencies and other factors impacting, or with the potential to impact, timely execution of the project, and provide written comments and proposed correspondence to the COR regarding responsibility and corrective actions to be taken by contractor, Government, designer, etc.
- Review project issues, requests for equitable adjustment and claims to determine contract basis and entitlement. Make appropriate recommendations with supporting documentation to COR.
- Make technical interpretations of drawings and specifications and provide engineering determinations on whether methods and materials employed meet the requirements of contract specifications, and make appropriate recommendations to COR.
- Review contractor’s records of work accomplished, and materials used and report findings to the COR.
- Review project plans and specifications to determine such things as practicability from construction standpoint, whether physical obstructions or other construction difficulties have been anticipated, and whether materials selected are readily available. Provide written comments to the COR. Utilize the Resident Management System to prepare and submit reporting information, in accordance with the District and Area Office protocols.
- Review and provide technical recommendations on Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Attend various meetings associated with the Tyndall Re-build construction program
- Perform pre-award Biddability Constructability Operability Environmental Sustainability (BCOES) reviews and design package reviews for Design-Build contract support.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering and a Professional Engineer license. Preferred licensed in the State of Florida.
- Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience as a structural engineer on large complex multimillion dollar DoD construction projects and demonstrated experience working with coastal projects and high wind loads.
- Experience with Resident Management System (RMS) is preferred.
- Construction management experience of projects in Florida, more specifically in areas in the vicinity of Tyndall AFB and on Air Force Installations is preferred.
