Job Title: Senior CEI

Job Description

Lead and supervise the construction inspection team. Plan, prepare, and analyze construction documents. Manage construction contracts utilizing Site Manager and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the preparation of inspector daily reports for inclusion on contractor progress payment estimates.
  • Direct and assist staff in reviewing and analyzing contractor project schedules, staging plans, traffic control plans, and other required submittals to ensure they meet contract requirements and restrictions.
  • Meet with contractors regularly to plan and coordinate work, resolve issues in work areas, address scheduling concerns and sequence operations, and settle other contract labor compliance and administrative matters.
  • Assign, schedule, direct, supervise, review, and accept the work on behalf of the client.
  • Ensure that safety of personnel and the traveling public is paramount in all work activities.
  • Administer contracts in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
  • Oversee the activities of Construction Inspectors, Materials Coordinators, Office Engineers, and administrative personnel.
  • Monitor contractors’ work for compliance to schedule, budget, technical specifications, and legal requirements.
  • Conduct progress meetings and prepare reports on project status.
  • Communicate and implement safety rules, policies, and procedures to contractors and subordinate personnel.
  • Recognize and act promptly on potential changes or additional work to the contract, conflicts or ambiguities in the plans and specifications, and changes in field conditions.
  • Negotiate, analyze, resolve, settle, deny, and/or make recommendations regarding contractor conflicts and claims considering contract plans and specifications, estimates, conditions, costs, and time.
  • Conduct field visits to examine construction site conditions and issues.
  • Participate actively as a member of the client's construction team for project delivery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification preferred
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to provide solutions to the engineer
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive construction experience on multidisciplinary projects
  • Fundamental understanding of contracts and familiarity with codes and laws governing construction
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Ability to identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
  • Teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Work Environment

The role requires working in a team environment. Candidates must be computer literate and able to work with construction-related software packages. A positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant in a collaborative culture are essential.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
