Job Title: Scheduler
Job Description
Develop schedules for large or multiple smaller construction projects with complex scheduling activities. Revise and review project schedules with the project team, and monitor and track progress against the defined schedule.
Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of work breakdown structure for large or multiple smaller construction projects.
- Reference ‘Scheduling Playbook’ to adhere to company and scheduling policies, practices, procedures, and activities.
- Develop relationships with project stakeholders for effective communication of the overall project plan.
- Collaborate with the project team, including Engineers and Superintendents, to confirm Contract Item List (CIL) and develop Required On Job (ROJ) dates.
- Review and recommend decisions related to work performance regarding scheduling, delivery, logistics, and staffing levels.
- Study schedule deliverables prior to publication or distribution, asking insightful questions to enhance schedule accuracy.
- Engage with the Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) team to align and coordinate schedules and models.
- Monitor and track critical path activities to achieve predicted forecasted end-date.
- Create target comparison models and look-ahead schedules to provide progress updates and explain risks to stakeholders.
- Challenge project teams based on schedule data for As Built vs. Planned progress.
- Conduct project site progress walks to capture scheduling progress data.
- Generate scheduling reports and summaries as requested, and provide monthly progress reports for review meetings.
- Provide support and guidance to project end-users to develop proficiency in using scheduling software.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Marketing teams to prepare proposal scheduling activities.
- Develop and update cost and resource-loaded schedules as requested.
- Apply continuous improvement methodology to improve scheduling operations.
Essential Skills
- Proficient use of scheduling software applications, such as Oracle Primavera P6.
- Knowledge of scheduling comparison tools like Acumen Fuse and Change Inspector.
- Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
- Knowledge of estimating to support project schedule development.
- Familiarity with earned value concepts and construction resources.
- Ability to manage competing demands and meet deadlines.
- Strong process and analytical skills for decision-making.
- Professional interpersonal skills to develop relationships with team members and stakeholders.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly.
- Proficient computer and data entry skills, including Microsoft Office suite and collaborative tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or a related field.
- 4 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience with large construction projects (>$50m).
- Experience in construction positions such as Field Engineer or Assistant Superintendent.
- Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices.
Work Environment
The role requires limited travel. You will work closely with various departments, including Preconstruction, Commissioning, Procurement, and Construction, using collaborative tools and scheduling software. The environment values continuous improvement and encourages applying methodologies to enhance scheduling operations.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ridgeville, SC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $85.00/hr.
