Sample Registration Specialist

As a Sample Registration Specialist, you will play a vital role within the Sample Registration Team. This mixed role involves various responsibilities in sample registration, sample preparation, client services, and more. The typical registration process for samples takes about half a day, after which tasks are divided for aseptic preparation in the lab.

Responsibilities

• Work from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00/2:00 p.m. in sample registration, which includes opening packages, registering samples, and labeling samples.
• Spend 75% of your time in the sample registration area utilizing a conveyor system.
• From 1:00/2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., engage in a variety of tasks including sample preparation, client services, shipping, and running samples from prep to the lab.
• Prepare samples for lab processing using aseptic techniques.
• Assist with lab tasks such as cleanup, stocking samples, disposing of samples, and media preparation.
• Answer client questions via email as part of client services.
• Help manage sample inventory, including shipping and receiving.

• Proficiency in data entry, sample management, and sample preparation.
• Lab experience, especially in food testing or food service.
• High school diploma or Associate's degree, preferably in sciences.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment, as well as familiarity with laboratory procedures.
• Biology and chemistry knowledge.

• 1 years of experience in a food service position (server, bussing, bartender).
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Routine or repetitive work background (e.g., warehouse, assembly, basic lab).
• High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in reading samples and matching information.
• Computer experience, especially with Microsoft Suite, is a plus.
• Inquire about food allergies.

The role is set in a lab environment focused on dietary microbiology and probiotics testing. The facility employs 415 people in Madison and 800 in total. The fast-paced setting resembles production work, with strict client timeframes. The Microbiology department has around 20 employees, housed separately from the chemistry team. The work can be repetitive, depending on the group you join.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
