Safety Specialist – Job Description

Overview

The Safety Specialist supports corporate and site‑level safety objectives by implementing programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and partnering with teams to maintain a safe work environment. This role leads training, incident response, risk assessments, and continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain site‑specific safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Deliver safety training and maintain accurate training documentation.
• Investigate incidents and near misses; support injury care and case management.
• Lead hazard assessments and track corrective actions.
• Support ergonomic evaluations and proactive safety planning.
• Develop EH&S plans for projects and conduct site walks to identify hazards.
• Perform audits and inspections; issue follow‑ups on corrective actions.
• Manage safety inventory and analyze data to support improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field; or Associate degree 2 years experience; or EHS Apprentice Program completion.
• Experience in incident investigation, audits, regulatory compliance, and training.
• Strong communication and influencing skills across all levels.
• OSHA knowledge required; OSHA 30 preferred.
• Construction or industrial safety experience is a plus.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Portland,OR.
