Job Description

The Safety Coordinator supports the site Safety Manager and EHS Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety, health, and environmental programs in a heavy manufacturing environment. This role ensures that operations comply with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, FDEP, and local regulatory requirements, while promoting a strong safety culture through training, inspections, documentation, and continuous improvement of safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards are consistently followed across the site.
• Lead and assist with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance activities, including employee training, site-level inspections, reporting, documentation, and corrective actions.
• Conduct documented daily assessments of employees and work areas, including PPE compliance, hand tool safety, walking and working surface compliance, and hazard identification.
• Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual site-level safety inspections and document findings and corrective actions.
• Review, update, and maintain lockout/tagout (LOTO) documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in the ongoing review, maintenance, training, and implementation of all company safety programs, including emergency response teams and exercises.
• Take part in monthly safety committee meetings and support related safety activities and initiatives.
• Support and facilitate environmental, health, and safety orientation for new hires to ensure they understand site safety expectations and procedures.
• Participate in incident investigations to determine root causes and recommend effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain current knowledge of safety and environmental requirements, including RCRA, HAZWOPER, OSHA 511/501, and First Aid/CPR/AED standards.
• Assist with record retention and the development of safety and EHS metrics to track performance and drive improvement.
• Perform other safety and EHS-related duties as assigned to support overall site safety objectives.

Essential Skills

• Experience in safety coordination within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards applicable to manufacturing operations.
• Experience with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance activities, including inspections, reporting, and corrective actions.
• Ability to conduct and document safety inspections and daily assessments of employees and work areas.
• Knowledge and practical understanding of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and documentation requirements.
• Experience delivering or supporting safety training and employee safety orientation programs.
• Ability to participate in incident investigations and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective action development.
• Familiarity with PPE requirements, hand tool safety, and walking and working surface standards.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for record retention and metric development.
• Effective communication skills to engage employees at all levels on safety topics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of RCRA requirements related to hazardous waste management.
• Knowledge of HAZWOPER requirements for hazardous waste operations and emergency response.
• Familiarity with OSHA 511/501 coursework or equivalent OSHA safety training.
• Current or prior training in First Aid, CPR, and AED use.
• Experience participating in safety committees or cross-functional safety initiatives.
• Knowledge in EHS or safety within a port or similar heavy industrial setting.
• Willingness to relocate, with relocation support available.

Work Environment

This role is based in a heavy manufacturing facility located on a port in Panama City, Florida. The work environment involves regular presence on the production floor and in industrial areas, where the Safety Coordinator actively observes operations, conducts inspections, and interacts with employees. The setting includes large industrial equipment, active material handling, and varied environmental conditions typical of a port-based manufacturing operation. The position requires comfort working in and around heavy machinery, navigating busy industrial areas, and adhering to all site safety protocols, including consistent use of required personal protective equipment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Panama City, FL.

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
