Job Description
Will work onsite full-time at a major global technical center as part of an Advanced Development team within an Autonomous Robotics Center. In this role, you will design and implement innovative test and validation frameworks for advanced robotic systems and AI models, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), simulation-driven validation, and continuous safety monitoring. You will define and apply performance metrics for intelligent collaborative robots—such as adaptability, robustness, and trustworthiness—and collaborate closely with robotics and AI teams to validate early prototypes and benchmark AI models before deployment. In addition, you will contribute to robotics calibration activities, such as camera, gripper and robot calibration.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive test plans to validate AI models and robotic systems across a variety of scenarios and use cases.
- Develop automated testing frameworks to ensure the reliability, robustness, and performance of robotic platforms and AI-driven functionalities.
- Analyze test data to identify issues, determine root causes, and drive effective resolutions and improvements.
- Develop and maintain test frameworks, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) setups and simulation-driven validation environments.
- Define, refine, and track performance metrics for intelligent robotic systems, focusing on adaptability, robustness, and trustworthiness.
- Implement and support continuous safety monitoring approaches for robotics testing and validation activities.
- Validate early robotic prototypes in collaboration with Robotics Intelligence teams, providing clear feedback and documentation.
- Benchmark AI models in partnership with AI and Simulation teams to assess performance before deployment.
- Contribute to robotics calibration activities, including camera, gripper, and robot calibration, to ensure accurate and reliable system behavior.
- Document test plans, procedures, results, and findings clearly and thoroughly for cross-functional stakeholders.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in robotics testing and validation.
- Extensive experience in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and simulation environments.
- Hands-on experience with robotics validation and robotics testing methodologies.
- Experience with safety monitoring and performance benchmarking for robotic systems and AI models.
- Proficiency in developing test frameworks and simulation-driven validation approaches.
- Experience with robotics calibration, including camera, gripper, and robot calibration.
- Solid understanding of AI-driven robotic systems and their validation needs.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex test data and derive actionable insights.
- Strong documentation skills for creating clear test plans, procedures, and reports.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- Experience working with intelligent collaborative robots and defining or applying performance metrics such as adaptability, robustness, and trustworthiness.
- Proven track record of innovation in designing and implementing test frameworks for robotics and AI systems.
- Knowledge of relevant safety and compliance standards applicable to robotics and autonomous systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Robotics Intelligence and AI & Simulation groups.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and a passion for advancing autonomous robotics technologies.
This is a Contract position based out of Warren, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $60.00/hr.
