Working in a professional office alongside more than ten engineering professionals, this role offers direct guidance and mentorship from engineers and designers, as well as opportunities for long-term career growth and increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Create and refine Revit-based drawings and models that support electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and architectural design requirements across diverse project types.
  • Perform design-related calculations and assist in sizing equipment to ensure systems meet project performance, safety, and code requirements.
  • Conduct BIM clash detection and resolution to identify and correct conflicts between building systems, improving constructability and coordination.
  • Work both independently and as part of a collaborative project team to meet deadlines, maintain quality standards, and support project goals.
  • Provide oversight, training, and mentoring to less experienced designers, helping them develop technical skills and understanding of BIM workflows.
  • Communicate directly with licensed engineers, as well as company leadership, to clarify design intent, incorporate feedback, and support project delivery.
  • Support a diverse portfolio of projects, adapting drawings and models to different building types, sizes, and complexity levels.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in Revit with over 3 years of hands-on experience creating BIM models and construction documentation.
  • Experience in electrical, power distribution, low voltage systems, HVAC, piping, plumbing, and/or architectural design within building projects.
  • Strong drafting skills with the ability to translate design concepts into clear, accurate drawings and models.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for preparing and modifying technical drawings and details.
  • Ability to perform basic design calculations and assist with equipment sizing in coordination with engineering staff.
  • Experience working on a diverse range of project types, including residential, commercial, industrial, and specialty facilities.
  • Effective communication skills for direct interaction with licensed engineers, designers, and company leadership.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, coordinated BIM models and drawings.
  • Capability to conduct BIM clash detection and participate in resolving conflicts between disciplines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or architectural drafting using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with MEP design processes and coordination among multiple building systems.
  • Comfort working on projects ranging from approximately $1 million to $10 million in value.
  • Interest in long-term career development, with a desire to take on increasing responsibility and advance into higher-level roles.
  • Ability to mentor junior designers and contribute to a supportive, learning-focused team culture.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with a focus on productivity and quality.
  • Adaptability to different building types and design requirements, including residential, industrial, commercial, retail, and specialized facilities.

Work Environment

This role is based in a professional office setting that combines private offices for leadership with an open, collaborative production space for designers and engineers. The team currently includes approximately 14 employees—11 engineers (3 licensed), 2 drafters, and administrative support—with plans to add additional staff. The culture is easygoing and friendly, with a strong focus on productivity, a positive work environment, and long-term employee development.
