Job Description

As a Radiology Technician, you will be responsible for positioning patients and adjusting equipment for routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. You will instruct patients regarding procedures, observe them for vital signs during examinations, and follow prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment. Using radiation protection according to department policy, you will select the appropriate length and intensity for radiation exposure on an individual patient basis and authorize the release of patients upon completion of imaging examinations. Additionally, you will deliver diagnostic images to radiologists for reading and interpretation, administer contrast media correctly, and provide appropriate instruction.

Responsibilities

• Position patients and adjust equipment for routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
• Instruct patients regarding procedures and observe for vital signs during examinations.
• Follow safety standards in operating radiologic equipment and use radiation protection.
• Select length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment individually.
• Authorize release of patients upon completion of imaging examination.
• Deliver diagnostic images to radiologists for reading and interpretation.
• Administer contrast media correctly and provide appropriate instructions.
• Provide input for equipment and supply purchase decisions.
• Perform fluoroscopic studies according to department protocols.
• Maintain patient records and supply area as per departmental needs.
• Enhance professional growth through education programs, conferences, and workshops.
• Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
• Assume responsibility for portions of the quality assurance program.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in radiology, X-ray, scanning, and imaging techniques.
• Strong patient care skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited course of study in radiologic technology or an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.
• One year of experience as a radiology technician preferred.
• Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Current state permit as a General Diagnostic Radiographer.

This is a Permanent position based out of Ames, IA.

The pay range for this position is $47590.00 - $60070.00/yr.
