R&d Engineer - Entry Level - Medical Device

Job Title: R&ampD Engineer / Entry Level - 6 to 9 month projects! 40 hours a week.

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented early-career candidate with a Masters or Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field to support engineering builds, product development, and design verification activities. This opportunity is suitable for recent graduates as well as candidates with relevant experience in the medical device industry. This role provides hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical components, material procurement, engineering assembly, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering builds, prototype assembly, and product development activities.
• Create purchase requisitions and coordinate the procurement of mechanical, electrical, and other components.
• Track orders, monitor material availability, and coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure parts are available for scheduled builds.
• Assist with the assembly, integration, and testing of mechanical and electrical components and subassemblies.
• Support engineering teams with troubleshooting, documentation, and build-related activities.
• Assist with reviewing Bills of Materials, engineering drawings, and assembly instructions.
• Maintain accurate records of components, build status, and material usage.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support project milestones.
• Assist with organizing engineering lab equipment, tools, and materials.

Essential Skills

• Foundational understanding of mechanical and electrical components, engineering principles, and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, schematics, Bills of Materials, and assembly instructions.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, prototype development, or testing through academic projects or internships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Additional Skills &amp Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Suitable for recent graduates or candidates with prior experience in the medical device industry.
• Familiarity with CAD tools, engineering documentation systems, inventory tracking, or material procurement is desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a hands-on engineering environment.

Work Environment

This position requires working onsite five days per week in a collaborative engineering environment. The role involves direct interaction with mechanical and electrical components, necessitating hands-on work with engineering lab equipment, tools, and materials.

This is a Contract position based out of Schaumburg, IL.

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
