URGENT NEED - Quality Engineer for 6-12 month contract!
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Quality Engineer to ensure the highest standards of quality management within our production processes. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing essential QMS documents, supporting product launches, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage essential QMS documents, Process Control Plans, Work Instructions, Inspection Plans, Gauge Instructions, and GR&R plans.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new and existing programs through the APQP process.
- Support product launches, engineering changes, and improvement changes, ensuring quality systems compliance.
- Prepare and submit PPAP packages per customer requirements for new and existing products and process changes.
- Complete dimensional reports, capability studies, and measurement systems analysis.
- Lead problem-solving activities for internal and external issues and address customer concerns in a timely manner.
- Perform internal audits to ensure conformance with IATF and customer-specific requirements.
- Monitor customer-specific requirements and portals, updating documentation to ensure compliance.
- Conduct product process audits to ensure products meet customer specifications and inspection activities align with control plan requirements.
- Train employees in quality inspections, including the use of gauges, fixtures, and final inspection procedures.
- Organize and lead meetings to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for quality issues.
- Understand customer issues, develop communication strategies, and ensure adherence to quality alerts.
- Initiate claims to suppliers for defective materials.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Support and promote core values and leadership behaviors.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a technical area such as Operations Management, Manufacturing Management, Materials/Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent.
- At least five years of experience in a quality role with similar responsibilities.
- Knowledge of PPAP, 8D methodology, supplier quality, quality tools, and customer web-based systems.
- Hands-on experience with testing equipment including depth gauge, calipers, micrometer, tape measure, product gauges, and preferably CMM.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Eight years of directly relevant quality/manufacturing experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- High School Diploma or equivalency (HSED or GED).
Work Environment
The position requires 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, primarily in the office and occasionally in the production area as required. The schedule is subject to change at the discretion of the department manager. Work includes standing and walking for long periods within manufacturing facilities, heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, and exposure to elevated noise levels, high temperatures near ovens, and proximity to moving equipment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
