Job Description
This role monitors and improves the quality of operational processes and outputs daily. The quality engineer is responsible for designing quality standards, establishing and following processes, developing quality control systems, and determining corrective actions. The position involves applying quality control principles to ensure the reliability, safety, and effectiveness of products or services.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, maintenance, and deployment of quality plans that translate customer requirements into planned activities.
- Drive process and product improvement initiatives across multiple functional disciplines.
- Review and approve internal engineering and supplier documentation, ensuring appropriate quality requirements are addressed.
- Provide ongoing quality system support, including performing internal audits and implementing root cause corrective actions.
- Lead quality improvement teams, Material Review Boards, and Failure Review Boards.
- Coordinate with other quality and engineering personnel to create FAIR and PPAP packages for customer submittal, managing changes as needed.
- Provide technical support for Assembly/Test/Inspection personnel, including executing workmanship improvement plans, developing inspection methods and criteria, and processing non-conforming materials.
- Resolve customer quality issues and drive root cause and corrective actions on process and product quality issues.
- Develop and deploy SPC initiatives internally and at suppliers.
- Evaluate and make recommendations on critical supplier selections and drive supplier continuous improvement processes, including leading on-site audits.
- Review and approve supplier corrective actions.
- Develop new procedures to address all aspects of quality programs.
- Generate statistical reports on inspection activities and results, recommending actions as required.
- Coordinate scheduling and compliance for calibration and verification of inspection and test equipment.
- Ensure proper documentation for all customer shipments.
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
- Perform all tasks safely and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Maintain cooperative and professional interactions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role.
- Experience coding and using QA software tools and processes.
- Root cause analysis experience.
- Proficient with ISO Standards, 6 Sigma tools, and Statistics tools.
- Ability to understand military and customer specifications and read drawings.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and writing skills.
- Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action.
- Experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, including Supplier auditing, Supplier Qualification, and Supplier monitoring using Supplier scorecards.
- Experience with AS9100 and ISO9001 procedure writing and auditing; AS9100 auditing preferred.
- Competent in problem-solving tools: Root Cause Analysis, 8D, 5 Whys, DMAIC.
- 6 Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent math skills.
- Comprehensive computer skills.
- Superior documentation and reporting skills.
- Superior hand/eye coordination.
- Ability to pass an annual eye exam to maintain certification.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Palm Bay, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr.
