Job Title: Quality Engineer (1st Shift)
Job Description
The Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring product and process conformity within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This position serves as the primary point of contact for supplier inquiries, quality decisions, and process improvement initiatives. You will interpret aerospace drawings and specifications, support manufacturing and inspection planning, lead root cause investigations, and drive corrective actions that improve quality performance across the organization. This is a dynamic role with the opportunity to wear multiple hats, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, and learn from senior-level quality engineers in a culture that values long-term growth and internal advancement.
Responsibilities
- Interpret aerospace manufacturing drawings, specifications, and engineering requirements accurately to ensure product and process conformance.
- Provide technical support and training to coworkers, customers, and suppliers on quality standards, requirements, and best practices.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing planning team to review and improve manufacturing and inspection plans for compliance with drawings, specifications, and engineering requirements.
- Design and implement mistake-proofing solutions for manufacturing and inspection processes to reduce variation and improve repeatability.
- Write clear and detailed operator work instructions and inspection documents to ensure compliance with product, process, and quality system requirements.
- Conduct Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), 5-Why Analysis, or similar systematic approaches to investigate and resolve product and process nonconformities.
- Assess quality performance trends using data collection and analysis, and lead corrective action efforts to address systemic issues.
- Analyze purchase orders, drawings, and specifications to identify and communicate product and process requirements to relevant stakeholders.
- Support internal, supplier, customer, and third-party audits of products, processes, and quality systems.
- Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with coworkers, suppliers, customers, and auditors.
- Comply with all applicable federal, state, company, and customer requirements related to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate daily with inspectors, quality engineers, continuous improvement professionals, and production teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Travel within the greater Seattle area as needed, with limited requirements for air or overnight travel.
Essential Our Client
- Minimum of an associate (AA) degree.
- At least 1 year of quality engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to accurately interpret aerospace drawings, specifications, and engineering requirements.
- Hands-on experience with quality inspection tools, techniques, and methods.
- Proficiency in conducting Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), 5-Why Analysis, or similar systematic problem-solving approaches.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality system requirements.
- Knowledge of quality engineering theories, principles, and inspection techniques.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clear, accurate, comprehensive, and concise documents.
- Ability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers, customers, suppliers, and auditors.

- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification.
- In-depth knowledge of aerospace drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
- Advanced knowledge of quality engineering principles, inspection tools, and equipment.
- Expert-level experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and 5-Why Analysis.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and facilitating win–win outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience with Catia V5.
- Strong solution orientation, with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid, cost-effective conclusions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing requirements.

Work Environment
This position operates in a mixed office and shop-floor environment within an aerospace manufacturing setting. You will split your time between a workstation and the production floor, collaborating daily with approximately 25–30 inspectors, 3–4 quality engineers under each quality engineering manager, 2 continuous improvement managers, finished goods personnel, and assemblers as part of a roughly 55-person quality team. The role involves frequent periods of standing and movement, as well as frequent periods of sitting at a workstation and performing repetitive motions. You will frequently encounter loud noises and may seldom need to lift up to 35 pounds or be exposed to chemical smells.
