The Quality Control Senior Specialist leads the development, deployment, and maintenance of advanced digital tools and data solutions that support a modern Quality Control (QC) laboratory. Operating within the QC Systems group and reporting to the Manager of Digital Laboratory Systems, this role partners closely with QC subject matter experts to analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, and build scalable digital solutions that enhance data accessibility, reporting, and operational efficiency. The position is hybrid, requiring three days per week onsite near Holly Springs, NC, and offers a highly collaborative yet self-directed environment where you drive digital innovation and deliver high-impact solutions for QC operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end development of digital tools and data solutions for the QC laboratory, from requirements gathering through design, implementation, testing, and ongoing support.
- Collaborate directly with QC subject matter experts in areas such as Chemistry, Microbiology, Bioassay, and QC Support to understand workflows, data flows, and operational challenges.
- Analyze existing QC workflows to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for digital optimization and automation.
- Independently design and build scalable, enterprise-grade digital tools using Databricks, SQL, Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, and SharePoint.
- Translate complex laboratory processes and QC data structures into robust digital solutions that improve data accessibility, visualization, and reporting.
- Work with QC data sources such as LIMS, laboratory notebooks, and Quality Management Systems (QMS) to develop fit-for-purpose solutions with minimal onboarding.
- Ensure that all digital tools and solutions adhere to QC and Quality System requirements, including data integrity and compliance expectations.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and mitigation plans to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
- Drive digital innovation within the QC Systems group by proposing new ideas, tools, and approaches that enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for deployed digital tools and systems.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining strong alignment with QC Systems and broader QC objectives.
- Expert-level SQL and Databricks experience, including working with enterprise data environments and building scalable solutions.
- Advanced experience developing digital tools using Microsoft Power Platform, including the ability to independently deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Strong proficiency with Power BI, including building dashboards, reports, and data models that support QC decision-making.
- Advanced experience working with SharePoint to support digital collaboration, document management, and data-driven solutions.
- Strong understanding of, or prior experience working with, QC data, workflows, and laboratory processes, enabling rapid value delivery with minimal onboarding.
- Ability to rapidly translate complex laboratory processes and data flows into practical, robust digital tools.
- Proven capability to operate with a high degree of autonomy while effectively partnering with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on identifying process inefficiencies and implementing digital solutions to address them.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with QC subject matter experts and presenting progress, risks, and solutions.
- Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience, or Master’s degree and 6 years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience, or Associate degree and 10 years of experience, or high school diploma / GED and 12 years of experience.
- Experience working with QC data structures such as LIMS, laboratory notebooks, and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Background in or exposure to QC laboratory operations and Quality System processes.
- Experience building enterprise-grade digital tools in regulated or quality-focused environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative yet self-directed environment.
- Track record of driving digital innovation and delivering high-impact solutions in data-intensive settings.
This role is based near Holly Springs, NC, in a hybrid work arrangement that requires three days per week onsite at a QC laboratory and systems environment. You will work closely with QC teams, including Chemistry, Microbiology, Bioassay, and QC Support, in a setting that emphasizes data integrity, quality, and operational excellence. The technology stack includes Databricks, SQL, Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, SharePoint, and QC data systems such as LIMS, lab notebooks, and Quality Management Systems. The environment supports a high level of autonomy, with strong collaboration across functions to drive digital innovation and continuous improvement in QC operations.

This is a Contract position based out of Holly Springs, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
