QC Lab Technician

Job Description

The Quality Control Laboratory Technician is responsible for testing materials, in-process and finished products, equipment, and ingredients to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and company standards. Working under the Quality Control Laboratory Manager, the technician will maintain, process, analyze, and record results gathered from product development, research and development, and production.

Responsibilities

• Record and maintain quality testing results and data collection.
• Collect, test, and analyze in-process and final product samples to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Prepare dilution fluids, tubes, and media for testing.
• Carry out microbiologic techniques in an aseptic environment, including streak plates, colony isolation, gram stains, API carbohydrate profiles, and microbial enumeration counts.
• Provide support to the research and development department with product development and stability studies.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and workspace, including calibration of instruments.
• Assist with other quality duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in microbiology and biology.
• Experience with GMP, HACCP, GLP, OSHA, FDA regulations.
• Ability to conduct raw material testing and perform audits.
• Familiarity with batch record keeping.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• General science, biology, or microbiology experience desired.
• Combination of equivalent experience and a two-year college or technical school degree.

Work Environment

The position offers hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The work environment is a small team setting that encourages independence and self-motivation. Employees are expected to be self-starters, capable of problem-solving, and able to complete tasks with little supervision. The quality lab fosters a culture of feedback and teamwork, with a focus on critical thinking and time management. The dress code includes jeans or pants, work-appropriate shirts, and closed-toed non-slip shoes. As a food-grade facility, full PPE must be worn, including lab coats, hair nets, beard nets, and, if required, eyeglasses and earplugs. Physical demands of the job include the ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds, as well as specific vision abilities such as close vision and depth perception.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Urbandale, IA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Urbandale,IA.
