Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Purchasing Lead to join our team in Carlsbad. This role is pivotal in managing procurement activities and optimizing purchasing processes within a dynamic manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong experience in manufacturing, hands-on ERP experience, and exhibit a collaborative leadership style.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of 2-4 buyers, including one currently on maternity leave.
• Manage internal and external purchasing of raw materials and office equipment.
• Collaborate closely with vendors, production supervisors, and customer service teams.
• Streamline purchasing processes using Acumatica ERP.
• Organize and structure workflows while maintaining meticulous notes.
• Create and send purchase orders to vendors for supplies and materials.
• Calendar delivery dates and follow-up dates for all orders.
• Communicate with vendors via email and phone regarding purchase orders.
• Authorize payments and maintain receipts, records, and approvals for purchase orders.
• Coordinate shipments to and from vendors, including managing all necessary paperwork.
• Implement new strategies and drive operational improvements.

Essential Skills

• 5-7 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
• Ability to lead or supervise others.
• Strong ERP experience, with SAP required and Acumatica being a plus.
• Manufacturing industry experience.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in the biotech industry is a plus.
• Background in creating structure and streamlining processes.
• Ability to take and implement feedback effectively.
• Comfortable stepping down from a previous management role.

Work Environment

This is an onsite role located in Carlsbad, CA, with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The work environment is a tight-knit, collaborative team culture in a business casual setting. The company emphasizes communication and teamwork, offering a stable, team-oriented atmosphere. Employees will interact directly with various department supervisors and leadership.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlsbad, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
