Job Description
This Associate Project Manager role focuses on coordinating and overseeing project-oriented work efforts from initiation through completion. You ensure that project goals and objectives are delivered on time, within scope, and within resource and budget requirements. You will define project requirements, perform feasibility and impact assessments, and support communication and change management activities across the organization. This position is well-suited for a professional with project management experience in construction or utilities who enjoys working with cross-functional teams and supporting both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Provide independent project oversight and direction to project team members and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Facilitate clear and consistent communication between customers, service providers, internal stakeholders, and technical support in coordination with the engineering team.
- Review and support the development of project-related documentation, including technical memoranda, design plans, specifications, and other project materials.
- Manage and execute specific project-related tasks, ensuring they are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Field customer concerns, coordinate with appropriate parties, and drive timely and effective resolution.
- Provide technical assistance and support to internal and external customers as needed.
- Apply project management concepts and practices to plan, organize, and monitor project activities.
- Track project milestones and deliverables, and prepare progress reports on project and program status as directed.
- Support cost estimating activities and project scheduling to ensure accurate planning and budgeting.
- Coordinate construction-related activities and project scheduling efforts to maintain smooth project execution.
- Contribute to change management and process management activities related to project outcomes across the organization.
Essential Skills
- Two-year Associate’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3–5 years of relevant work experience in project management or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Basic knowledge of cost estimating concepts and practices.
- Basic knowledge of scheduling concepts and tools for managing project timelines.
- Knowledge of utility methods, techniques, and procedures related to budgeting, procurement, and contract administration.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Proven ability to influence others and facilitate issue resolution.
- Customer-oriented mindset with a positive, team-focused attitude.
- Flexibility and an understanding of the business drivers behind project needs.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting project goals and deadlines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD drafting to support project design and documentation.
- Experience in project scheduling and coordination, particularly within construction or utility environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with customers, engineers, and field personnel.
- Experience in construction or construction management.
- Experience in environments involving budgeting, procurement, and contract administration.
- Comfort working in a mostly remote role with periodic travel to project sites and offices.
Work Environment
This role is based in Kitsap County and requires the candidate to be local to the area. The position operates primarily in a remote work setting, with regular travel to job sites and to office locations as needed to support project activities and coordination. You will work a standard Monday through Friday schedule, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The work involves frequent interaction with engineering teams, construction personnel, and utility stakeholders, and may include time spent in both office and field environments. You can expect to use project management tools, scheduling and cost estimating systems, and drafting software such as AutoCAD to support project planning, documentation, and execution.
