Job Title: Project Engineer (Open to Travelers-Midwest Preferred)
Job Description
This contract Project Engineer role supports a rehabilitation project within a national park, focusing on four buildings with varying specifications. The position runs approximately 3–5 months and involves assisting with structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression system upgrades for existing bathhouses. You will primarily support quality control activities, manage subcontractor submittals in Procore, and ensure that all documentation aligns with project specifications and drawings.
Responsibilities
- Support the quality control team by reviewing subcontractor submittals for compliance with project specifications and drawings.
- Verify that all submittals meet the technical requirements of the project before submission to the client.
- Enter, track, and manage submittals and related documentation in Procore.
- Review project specifications and blueprints to confirm that submittals match the design and scope of work.
- Coordinate and communicate with the client and subcontractors regarding submittal status, required revisions, and approvals.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining accurate project records related to submittals and quality control.
- Collaborate with construction management and field teams to ensure submittal information is correctly implemented on site.
- Support the overall construction management process by identifying discrepancies between submittals, specifications, and drawings and escalating issues as needed.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management (CM degree).
- Internship experience in construction or construction management.
- Hands-on experience using Procore for construction project documentation or submittal management.
- Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and blueprints.
- Understanding of construction processes and construction management principles.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing technical documents and submittals.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with clients and subcontractors.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple submittals and deadlines simultaneously.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on building rehabilitation or renovation projects.
- Familiarity with structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems in a construction context.
- Prior exposure to quality control processes on construction projects.
- Ability to work independently while supporting a broader project and QC team.
Work Environment
This is a 3–5 month contract position based on a national park project involving the rehabilitation of existing bathhouses across four buildings. The role typically requires working around 40 hours per week. Work will involve a combination of office-style tasks, such as documentation and submittal management in Procore, and close collaboration with field and construction management teams. Travel-related support is provided through applicable per diem for days worked and lodging, as well as per diem on weekends in accordance with GSA guidelines. The environment centers on active construction sites and project offices, where adherence to standard construction safety practices and appropriate professional attire suitable for both office and site settings is expected.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $43.20/hr.
