Job Description

The Project Engineer supports Sales and Engineering by maintaining and enhancing a custom firetruck configurator. This role focuses on configuration logic, product feasibility validation in SolidWorks, and ensuring compatibility between configurable options. The engineer works with cross-functional teams to implement new products, resolve configuration issues, and maintain accurate product data.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance rule-based configuration logic within the firetruck sales configurator.
• Integrate new firetruck models, options, and configurations into the system.
• Perform feasibility studies in SolidWorks to validate mechanical and electrical compatibility of configurable options.
• Manage and validate configuration data within a custom database and update rules based on engineering findings.
• Complete configuration requests from Sales and Engineering, ranging from minor corrections to complex product additions.
• Collaborate with engineers and sales teams to resolve configuration issues and improve product offerings.
• Document configuration changes, decisions, and business rules.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical and electrical product understanding (able to read drawings and know what can/can't go together)
• CAD familiarity (Solidworks preferred)
• Experience performing feasibility studies 
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Programming logic or ruled-based logic experience
• Product configurator experience
• Solidworks

Work Environment

This role is based in an office environment with an open or cubicle-style layout. You will work as part of a small, collaborative team of four Project Engineers, plus one additional team member supporting dealer management. Team members bring different strengths and areas of expertise, creating a supportive environment focused on execution and knowledge sharing. The primary tools include a homegrown sales configurator, Solidworks for feasibility checks, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel) for data handling and analysis. The work centers on integrating a new firetruck product line into the sales tool, with the project expected to run through the end of the year and the potential for extension based on project needs.

This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, MI.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Charlotte,MI.
